Sufo is designed to support the current real-world professional relationships that you've already built and nurtured.

You can find online extensions of existing professional associations, create new online groups of your own, and apply for membership to those groups started by others - this facilitates and expedites communication with others whom you trust and value - and allows you to have separate and private communications with each distinct group of colleagues, while still having access to content designed for a much broader audience.

Let's say you're a plastic surgeon practicing in Chicago's southwest suburbs. Here are examples of the different groups you may interact with at varying levels:

- ASPS, ASAPS and ISAPS
- Chicago Society of Plastic Surgeons
- Northwestern University Plastic Surgery (where you may have trained as a resident)
- An ad-hoc group of plastic surgeons who practice in the southwest suburbs and share cases every few months
- An ad-hoc group of international plastic surgeons who you may have worked with on a mission for Operation Smile in India
- Your group practice

You would be able to access each group at your convenience through Sufo's online platform.

As discussed in the FAQs, this will be a free service for all plastic surgeons who register - and non-physicians will never be granted access. Also, all registered members will receive a link to their personal practice website.

http://sufo.org/post/2008/4/whats-this-all-about What's this all about? Wouldn't it be cool to learn about new procedures, interact with their surgeon-innovators and participate in their evolution?

Sufo is a place where you can do that and more by collaborating with other plastic surgeons securely and effortlessly. Create trusted groups of colleagues based on location, training level, professional associations and real-world relationships. Discuss hot topics within your small private groups while staying abreast of community-wide conversations.

You will be able to read what fellow plastic surgeons are writing about new products, devices and services. Get past the marketing hype and make an informed decision.

Sufo will offer valuable information that matters to your practice. Learn about practice marketing, website development and search engine optimization from leaders in those fields.

Register and we will email you with login information when our beta site is live in June. Note that we are vetting all prospective members to ensure only plastic surgeons will have access. Our founders are physicians and want to protect the integrity of the community.

We are currently in a content acquisition phase and are working closely with resident and attending academic plastic surgeons at Northwestern University, UC San Diego and Loma Linda University. We would certainly appreciate contributions from other plastic surgeons as well. Please email our webmasters if you would like to submit content for the June launch.
